Truckload of Chocolate

Got me a new cool resource: thetoymaker.com
This little truck is just one of dozens of cute paper toys that you can print out right from her site for free! I am loving this cute truck- you could fill it full of chocolate kisses and say, you deserve a truckload of love, or any other cheesy thing. Her paper toys book looks pretty neat too. Most of it is geared toward children, but lots, like this truck, just take a little imagination for lots of different uses. Happy paper folding!

Insta-totes

Another inexpensive gift idea is to give an insta-totes lunch bag, they are just three dollars, and made entirely from recycled water bottles. So they are even eco-friendly, if you care about that sort of thing. They come with a handy inside pocket for your bottle of water. My friend gave me the one with this cute baby on it, because I have a blog called Cute Baby Fix, where we post cute babies because who couldn't use a little cuteness to break up the day? Anyway, they have big shopping bags too, in all kinds of colors and designs, for six dollars. The bag I have is super sturdy and really cute. These bags would be great for giving as a reusable gift bag with another gift inside.

Cake in a Jar

I just love this idea for a care package. My friend, Natalie, made this and sent it to her pen pal serving in Iraq. You could make one for birthdays, too. Especially for loved ones that live far away.

The recipe is from http://www.classiccakerecipes.com/.

Cake in a Jar
This is a cool way to make cake and save it. It freezes perfectly for those times when you want something sweet but don’t have the time to whip something up. This recipe can be made with any flavor of cake mix that you love.

Ingredients -
1 Package Yellow Cake Mix, (18.25 ounce)
8 Straight-Sided Wide-Mouth Pint Canning Jars, with lids and rings

Preparation:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Prepare the cake according to package instructions.
3. Grease the pint sized canning jars.
4. Put 1 cup of the cake batter in each greased jar.
5. Make sure to keep the rims of the jars clean.
6. Place the jars on a cookie sheet to keep from tipping over while baking.
7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.
8. While they are baking, have your jar lids boiling in a pan of water.
9. When the cake is done, take one jar out at a time and add the hot lid and screw on your jar ring and let set and cool.
10. It will seal as it cools. Place the jars on the counter and listen for them to 'ping' as they seal. If you miss the 'ping', wait until they are completely cool and press on the top of the lid. If it doesn't move at all, it's sealed.
11. After it cools it will pull away from the jar and when you are ready to eat, open and pop out the cake and enjoy.
12. Unsealed jars should be stored in the refrigerator and eaten within 2 weeks.
13. Sealed jars may be stored in a freezer.

Gift Giving Tip
Cover the top with a square of pretty fabric and hot glue down. Tie a ribbon around the top and attach a tag. You can include cake frosting, sprinkles, M&M’s, crushed Butterfinger bars, chopped pecans, etc. for decorating. And don't forget the birthday candles.
