Map/Location Study Scripture Journal Templates

For awhile now I have been creating pages in my journal for all the different locations I am studying about. You've got the Valley of Lemuel, Nahom, Bountiful, Jerusalem, and more locations all mentioned in just the first book of Nephi. I came up with the idea of creating a template for these types of pages. So here is a kit that includes vintage maps of Arabia (for studying the journey of Lehi's family after they left Jerusalem before they sailed to the promised land), Central America (for after they reach the promised land), as well as the United States (for studying the Doctrine and Covenants). Here is my first try at using the Arabia template for a page I was working on.

You can see at the top there is a place to list the name of the location you are studying, and then a vintage map below it. Next to the map is a blank space. This is meant for you to attach any pictures you have found of that place more close up. I just printed my picture out and used washi tape to attach it (with photo splits on the back).

The map is black and white but I used watercolor colored pencils to fill it in. It was so much fun! I love to color! Then I added a star to the specific point on the map that I am learning about using metallic gel pens.

Below the map is a space to list any historical facts about that place, and below that an area to list any scriptures that reference that location and what you learned. And as always a place to list any other journal references. Each template comes in a .pdf format. Also included is an instruction page to show you how to fill the page in (marks shown in red). This kit can be purchased for immediate download in our store.

Journaling Templates

This is my newest favorite layout in my topics journal. Its about forgiveness and the majority of it is from a talk that I found a long time ago that I have kept in the front of my scriptures that changed my life! Its called "The Healing Power of Forgiveness" by President James E. Faust
Some people have asked if I would be willing to sell my chapters and topics page templates. The problem with this is I have used purchased graphics that would cause copyright issues if I use them for more than personal use. However I have been tweaking some of them to make them downloadable.

Here is an example of part of the layout I did in my Topics journal using one of the templates you can now purchase. I had to change it a little bit so that it looks like this (without the watermark):

I am also offering the journaling page for your chapters journal where it has a column for verse by verse journaling. Here is an example:

Tweaked a bit, it will look like this when you download it:

They come in .pdf file versions. All you have to do is print them out and fill them in just like I do. By doing it this way it allows me to use them when I want the structure and to not have to use them when I want to do something more artsy

You can purchase both of these individually here and here in the shop. The template with the column for the verse can also be found as part of the Chapters Kit.

Enjoy!

Scripture Journal Character Analysis Templates

I am thrilled with the warm responses I have gotten about my scripture journal project. One of my favorite  things to do when studying is to do a character analysis on the people I am reading about. I try to attach my favorite picture of that person. I look up scriptures where that person's name is mentioned, and as I go through the chapters write down anything I have learned from them. I do a search on lds.org and depending on the person, sometimes there are entire talks written about them. In that case I may attach quotes that I like, more historical facts if there are any, personality traits, physical descriptions, important life events, what they have taught me, etc. In doing this I created a few templates that I just print out and fill in and it keeps my studying organized. I've decided to make them available for you. Here are what the templates look like:

Template #1- Character Analysis

and an example of a page I used with it:

Template #2- Historical Analysis

and an example of a page I used with it:

You can buy these individually here or here, or together in the Chapters Kit in our store.

I hope you find these as useful as I do. Enjoy!

Free Printable for Stickers of LDS Prophets, Apostles and More

I am HORRIBLE at remembering names with faces. As hard as I try to know all the apostles names when I see them at General Conference, a lot of times I get them mixed up. Let's admit it can be confusing. In my scripture journals, I have been quoting them alot, and there have been times that I wanted to know what that person looked like. Then I got an idea. Why not make stickers out of the pictures online of the apostles and prophets and then I can put their picture in my scripture journal when I quote them!?! Duh! Then I can see their face whenever I read their quote and over time hopefully it will help me remember them and feel a more personal connection with them.
Amazingly it was harder than I thought to find the chart I was looking for with all of the current LDS First Presidency and Quorum of the 12 Apostles. But I eventually found them on the church website and I added some people that I have been quoting alot in my journals. People like Marion G. Romney, Hugh Nibley, and prophets and apostles that have since passed away like Gordan B. Hinkley, Spencer W. Kimball, Neal A. Maxwell, Bruce R. McConkie and more. I imagine I will have to continue to add people and a second sheet may come in the future. But for now I want to share with you sheet one. All you have to do is buy sticker paper at your local Walmart or craft store, print them out on your ink jet printer and cut them out. Its really super easy. This is the brand I use and the paper is acid free and lignin free so you don't have to worry! Download the free printable by clicking here.

Free Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Seasonal Cleaning Checklist

I love lists. What woman doesn't, right? There is something so satisfying about crossing something off that says, "Good job, keep up the great work". While trying to organize my home with a more routine cleaning schedule, I took Martha Stewarts daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal cleaning checklists and combined them into one excel spreadsheet. Then I added and adjusted some things to better fit my family's needs. After finishing it, I thought why not share it in case some one else wants to save some time? You can download it for free here. You can add a column for the "owner" of the job to help spread the work around if you want your kids to help out as well. The idea is you do all the chores with a 1 in the box on the day specified and you can color, "x", check, whatever feels the best, in the box when it is done. Its meant to be a two page printout. Also, I filled in all the seasonal ones but really they only need to be done every few months so you may want to adjust those too. Hope it helps you with your spring cleaning!
